Carlton Collins

Collins20180707Carlton Claudie Collins of Hohenwald was born September 28, 1928 in Waynesboro, the son of the late John Anderson and Nora Ellen Coffman Collins.

Mr. Collins departed this life on July 9, 2018 at Lewis County Nursing and Rehab in Hohenwald at the age of 89 years, nine months, 11 days.

He was a retired maintenance worker at Conalco Consolidation Aluminum Corporation in New Johnsonville. He lived in Waverly for seven years and was of the Methodist faith. He was married to Delia Bell Turnbo Collins June 17, 1975.

He is survived by his wife, Delia Bell Collins, Hohenwald; three sons, Robert Collins and wife, Sandra of Hohenwald, Claudie Collins of Charlotte and Tim Collins and wife, Patsy, of Dyer; three daughters, Deborah Cotham and husband, Dwight, of Columbia, Pam Bailey and husband, Bud,  of Summertown and Kim Salcido and husband, Eddie, of Oklahoma; step-daughter, Deborah Kilgoar and husband, Barry, of Phil Campbell, Alabama; 16 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, nine great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Collins was preceded in death by two stepdaughters, one grandchild, a step grandchild, five brothers, Lloyd, Sid, Marvin and Hollis Collins; and sister, Eula Holder.

At his request, he was cremated. A memorial graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Bunch Cemetery near Linden with Rex Reed officiating. Burial will follow with Shackelford Funeral Directors of Waynesboro assisting the family.
