A Kia Forte driven by William C. Booker III, 20, of Cookevile, was damaged beyond driving after it side-swiped a GMC Sierra pick-up driven by Kevin Dalton of Hohenwald Friday, August 10, on Piney Creek Road around 2:30 p.m. Booker, unfamiliar with the curvy road, found himself in the middle of the roadway as he rounded the curve and met Dalton. Dalton was traveling south and going up the hill. Booker was traveling north and said when he hit his brakes, they locked causing him to hit Dalton. Dalton said he was as far off the road as he could go and against the guard rail trying to avoid a crash. No injuries were reported, but one of Dalton’s two children was checked by paramedics as a precaution. Lewis County Sheriff Department Deputies Dustin Carroll, Tim Ramsey and Sgt. Robbie Hooks assisted Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Philip Long at the scene. All vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts.
