Donald Stanley Cox, age 73, husband of Aline Cox, and a resident of Todd Carter Road in Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 23, 2016 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Nebraska.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 1, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Keen officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Grace in Maury Memorial Gardens, adjacent to Heritage Funeral Home.
Born November 21, 1942 in Williamson County, Donald was the son of the late Delmer Stanley Cox and the late Mary M. England Cox. He attended Calvary Baptist Church in Spring Hill and Santa Fe Baptist Church. He was raised on a farm, and in his younger days he liked to hunt. He worked as a truck driver for over forty years. Don enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids. He loved watching football and old westerns.
He is survived by his wife, Aline Holder Cox of Columbia; children, David Dwayne (Pamela) Cox of Mount Pleasant, Sandra Jane Cox of Columbia, Douglas Lee (Therisa Michelle) Cox of Columbia; brothers, Larry Wayne (Elma) Cox of Hohenwald, Jerry Lloyd Cox of Hohenwald, Billy Joe (Sherry) Cox of Franklin, Terry (Mary) Cox of Spring Hill; sisters, Barbara Roberts of Columbia, Mary Lee (William) Dobbins of Pulaski, Pauline (Bruce) Whitwell of Mount Pleasant, Kathy (Wayne) Green of College Grove; grandchildren, Adam Wayne Scott, Charity Ann Gibson, Shannon Michele Lowe, Darrell Wiley Cox and Christina Faith Cox; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Cox was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Cox; and sisters, Margaret Blackburn and Patricia Sue Carol.
