Frank Hallman Jr., formerly of Hohenwald, was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Alabama School for the Deaf (ASD) in Talledega, Alabama on October 27, 2018. Hallman attended and graduated at the school.
He showed great ability and talent on the basketball court. His honors included Mason Dixon Tournament Free Throw Champion in 1957, All Tournament First Team in 1958, Second Team All American Basketball Forward in 1958, and Sixth District All Tournament Team in 1958.
His basketball team became the first All District Deaf team ever to participate in the State Playoffs.
A reception and luncheon was provided for his family. They also enjoyed the ASD Homecoming football game.
Hallman’s family received a plaque which will also will be displayed on the Hall of Fame Wall at ASD.
Frank was a long time resident of Hohenwald until his death on December 20, 1996. He and his family moved to Hohenwald in the mid-1970s.
Among those attending were his wife, Sarah Hallman and children and grandchildren, Kim Wilson and John, Dollie McKnight and Danny, Tim Hallman and Cassie, Cruz and Max, Jason Hallman and Ashley, Zoie and Bay, all of Hohenwald.
