The Lewis County Fire Department received a call to a house fire on Rack Clayton Road at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, July 26. A passer-by noticed the structure fire and called 911. A first responder on the scene relayed that the home was already nearly destroyed. The fire department applied water around the foundation to help prevent the spread of flames. Fire Chief Steve Vineyard reported Mike Zimmermann with the State Fire Marshal’s Office was called to the scene to try and determine the cause of the fire. No one lived in the home which was owned by Willian Stacy. A MLEC representative on the scene said power had not been connected to the building for quite some time. Lewis County Sheriff Deputy Dustin Barber and Maury Regional Emergency Medical also responded.
