Lady Panther Volleyball Action

DSC_6930 www.lewisherald.comThe Lewis County High School volleyball season got underway on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 with a district contest at home against the always tough Loretto Lady Mustangs.

The junior varsity kicked things off in a best of three match. Loretto won the match in two sets 25-13 and 26-24.  Leading the way for Lewis County were Brooklynn McCann with 1 kill and 4 aces, Ally Willis, 2 kills and 1 ace and Emma Hinson and Reagan Webb each with an ace. 

DSC_6881 www.lewisherald.comThe varsity match was a best 3 out of 5 and Loretto captured all 3 sets winning 25-11, 25-9 and 25-13. Statistical leaders for the Lady Panthers were: Allison Jackson: 2 digs, 6 aces, Hailey Bowen: 1 dig, 2 kills, 4 aces, Jenna Tompkins: 4 digs, 4 kills and Addison Johns: 2 digs, 1 ace.  

DSC_6397 www.lewisherald.comOn Thursday, they made the short drive to Hampshire to take on the Lady Hawks and that short drive turned into a long night as both matches went into a tiebreaker.  
The junior varsity outlasted the hosts, winning in three sets, 22-25, 25-17 and 15-6 in the tiebreaker.  

Alexis Calvert paced the JV with 7 aces followed by Ally Willis with 1 dig and 3 kills, Brooklynn McCann: 2 kills, Calli Dye: 1 dig, 1 ace, Reagan Webb: 1 kill, 1 ace, Kaylie Stutts: 1 kill, 2 aces and Brooklyn Carroll with 1 kill. DSC_5973

The varsity match was a very long back and forth battle. After a tense first 3 sets, (20-25, 25-23, 23-25) the Lady Panthers turned up the intensity and dominated the 4th and 5th sets (25-15, 15-7) to go home with the victory. 

Hailey Bowen had 3 kills, 8 aces and 2 blocks while Allison Jackson added 4 kills and 7 aces to pace the squad. Aby Brock added 6 aces, Ally Willis with 4 kills, Jenna Tompkins with 1 kill, 1 ace and 1 dig, Addison Johns with 2 aces and Emma Hinson with 1 kill.
