The Lewis County High School Lady Panthers suffered a narrow loss in their second regular season game against East Hickman Tuesday, November 25.
The Lady Panthers jumped out to an early lead and controlled the game through three periods. The hometown team finished the first period leading 14-4, the second period by 23-14 and the third period by a score of 36-29, but the Lady Eagles would not go away.
After the initial thrust, the Lady Panthers struggled from the floor only shooting about 25 percent. In the fourth period, the Lady Eagles continued to chip away at the lead until, with the help of shooting over 90 percent from the free throw line, the girls from East Hickman took the lead with under two minutes to play.
Senior Morgan McKissack led the tally board with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Lainey Bell was next with 10 points, 5 boards, 1 assist and 1 steal. Kendall Bain and Landree Carroll each had 6 points with Bain adding 2 rebounds and an assist. Lexie Carroll had 5 points, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 rebound. Loren Runions had 4 points, 3 steals and 2 assists. Ashley Floyd had 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist. Maggie West added a rebound and Lauren Graves a steal.
The Lady Panthers played again on December 2nd at Camden. They will also be on the road December 5 traveling to Stewart County and Tuesday, December 9 at Montgomery Central. Game time is at 6 p.m.
