Lewis County High School Lady Panthers defeated the Perry County Lady Vikings, 67-50, Saturday, January 19, 2019 on the local gymnasium floor.
Sailor Selby and Breanna Bratcher paved the way for the Lady Panthers with 15 points each, followed by Hailey Bowen with 14 points. Kendall Tharp added 10 points, Kaylie Webb, 5, Anna Feichtinger, 4, and Jayden Hinson and Chloe Lay, 2 each.
The Lady Panthers had no contest against the Lady Tigers of Waverly Friday, January 18, as they picked up the district win, 75-38, on the LCHS court.
Lewis County took a 41-12 advantage at the end of the first half.
Bowen picked up 10 of her 21 points in the first half to lead the local ladies in scoring. Selby also scored 8 of her 15 points in the beginning of the game.
Webb finished with 13 points, Tharp, 9, Bratcher 8, Feichtinger, 6, and Dalina Brown 3.
Three point shots were the name of the game for the Lady Panthers. Selby stripped the net for 4 of her 15 points. Bowen had 2 and Webb and Brown, 1 each.
The Lady Panthers hit the road on January 15 and traveled to Fairview to capture a District 11AA win, 60-41, over the Lady Jackets.
The Lady Jackets had a 2 point advantage, 20-18 over the Lady Panthers at the end of the first quarter, but the LCHS ladies pulled ahead to end the first half, Lewis County 31, Fairview 29.
Selby scored 10 of her 20 points in the first quarter of the game by sinking two 3-pointers. Bowen added 14 points, Bratcher, 9, Lay, 6, Feichtinger, 5, Tharp, 4, and Hinson, 2.
LCHS girls stood fourth in District 11AA following Friday night’s play with 5 wins and 4 losses, and 8-8 overall.
Lewis County had an away conference game against #3 East Hickman Tuesday, January 22. They will be on the road again Friday, January 25, traveling to #2 Stewart County, and #1 Creek Wood Friday, January 29.
