LCHS Panthers compete in Christmas Tourney

The Lewis County High School Panther basketball team traveled to Centerville over the Christmas break December 27, 28 and 29 to compete in the Hickman County Christmas Tournament.

The Panthers drew the Independence Eagles of Thompson Station for the game. Independence squeeked by Lewis County, 76-74.

Lewis County managed the game until the fourth quarter when Independence broke lose and sank 30 point to the Panther’s 21 for the win. Lewis County led 39-34 at halftime.

Bryson Hinson led the Panther attack with 30 points, 7 assists, 4 rebounds, 1 block and 2 steals. Mikey Ortiz added 19 points, 6 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals; Cameron Cotham, 9 points, 9 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal; Huntlee Pace, 6 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal; Cade Banks, 6 points and 1 rebound; Peyton Crowell, 4 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds.

On December 28, the Panthers defeated the Harpeth Indians 59-50.

Harpeth managed 24 points to Lewis County’s 18 in the final quarter, but short for the win.

Crowell was lead scorer for the Panthers with 20 points and 4 assists. Hinson added 14 points, 1 assist, 5 rebounds and 1 steal; Cotham, 12 points, 2 assist, 7 rebounds, 2 blocks and 3 steals; Ortiz, 9 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 2 steals; Pace, 4 points, 1 assist and 5 rebounds.

The Panthers will begin the second half of the season with home games against Creek Wood January 4 and Wayne County January 5. They will travel to Camden January 8.
