In preparation for the 2019 season, the Lewis County High School Football team on February 5, 201 9competed in a weight lifting meet at Giles County High School. Teams competing were 4A Giles County, 2A Lewis County, 1A Richland and 1A Cornersville.
The players were tested in bench press, power clean and vertical jump. The lifters were divided into eight classes based on their body weight with two lifters in each class representing each school. Lewis County was the overall winner as the team lifted a combined 8,010 pounds.
Three Panthers winning their weight class were: (140-155 lb. class) Ethan Fransen- 210 pounds bench and 185 pounds power clean; (235-250 lb. class) Bratcher Clayton – 300 pounds bench and 275 pounds power clean; (300 lb. plus class) and Overall Highest Lifter, Preston Perdue, 340 pounds bench and 275 pounds power clean.
The squad is preparing for another meet the last week of March in Lewisburg at Marshall County High School and their annual Lift-a-Thon will take place in April.
Coach Bobby Sharp and the coaching staff are optimistic as the team has progressed in their winter workouts and are excited about spring practice in May.
