The Lewis County High School Panthers will kickoff the 2016 season this Friday night, August 19, at Panther Stadium when they play host to Eagleville. The Panthers won last year’s contest against the Class AA Region 4 Eagles by a 48-14 margin.

The Panthers finished the 2015 regular season with a 6-4 mark while the Eagles were 5-5. Both teams were eliminated in the first round of the TSSAA Playoffs. The Rutherford County squad is expected to be a tough foe for a season opener as they are now under the tutelage of first year coach, Floyd Walker, a former assistant coach at Middle Tennessee State University.

Panther Coach Bobby Sharp says “the team and coaches are excited to get the season started after working through the heat of summer practice and two scrimmages.”

Kickoff for the contest is set for 7 p.m. this Friday night at Panther Stadium. The Panthers will be in their final year with the current configuration of schools in Region 5-AA.  The top four teams in the region will advance to post-season play.
