Simmons Seeks City Council Chair

Mike Simmons announced he is a candidate for City Council member in the City of Hohenwald election to be held May 2, 2019.

He states, “I’m Michael Simmons, seeking the position of City Council member here in Hohenwald.

“Having grown up here, and having served our community in different capacities for most of my career, I would like to take my experience as a public servant to the next step.

“For those who don’t know me, I have been married 49 years to my soulmate, Mary Duncan Simmons. We have two children, Ronda and Randal, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

“I understand the meaning of family. I served on the Hohenwald Police Department for over 30 years, first as a patrolman, then earning my Sergeant stripes, on to Lieutenant, graduating to Captain, and assistant Police Chief. Those years were invaluable course in the workings of City Government, business association, families and their struggles, as well as triumphs and working with the public in general on a day-to-day basis.

“I am currently retired, but still work part-time as court security for the Lewis County Sheriff Department, and presently serve as treasurer for the Alan Ragsdale Memorial Lodge Fraternal Order of Police #73 for the past 20 plus years.

“I am asking for your vote and support in the upcoming election. I am asking for the opportunity once again to serve. I have always considered service to our community a privilege and will do so by listening openly to the concerns of all our community members with the goal of building, and moving forward for a better Hohenwald, one that thrives economically and still maintains that hometown feel.

“I am looking forward to working with Mayor McKnight and the other council members to make our city the best it can be for all who choose to call it home.

“I look forward to hearing your concerns. I hope to see each of you and I humbly ask, once again, for your vote and support. Thank you.”
