Early voting July 15-30
State Primary and County General Election will be held in Lewis County on August 4, 2016. Early voting begins July 15 and ends July 30.
Two voting places for the county have been changed. Voters in District Two will cast their votes at General Assembly Academy School on Baker Road and District Seven voting will be held at the Lewis County High School Commons Area.
State Primary Republican nominees are: United States House of Representatives 7th Congressional District Marsha Blackburn, Tennessee Senate 28th Senatorial District Joey Hensley, Tennessee House of Representatives 71st Representative District David “Coach” Byrd.
Tharon Chandler will be a Democratic nominee for the House of Representatives 7th Congressional District. No other candidates qualified for State Senate and 71st State Representative.
Republican Deanna B. Johnson is a candidate for Circuit Court Judge 21st Judicial District Division IV.
Candidates of the County General Election are: Assessor of Property Travis R. Hinson, Commissioner of Highways Joyce Holt, District 2 School Board Glenda Atkinson, District 4 School Board Derek Cotham, District 6 School Board Marti Elizabeth Lomax and District 8 School Board Nancy Ann McDonald. No one qualified for Sixth District Constable.
Voters will have the opportunity of voting to retain or replace Supreme Court Judge Jeffrey S. Bivins, Supreme Court Judge Holly Kirby, Supreme Court Judge Roger A. Page, Court of Appeals Judges – Western – Kenny Armstrong, Brandon O. Gibson and Arnold B. Goldin, Court of Criminal Appeals Judge – Eastern – Robert H. Montgomery, Court of Criminal Appeals Judge – Middle – Timothy L. Easter, Robert L. Holloway, Jr. and Court of Criminal Appeals Judge – Western – J. Ross Dyer.
