Approximately 1,000 people attended the Lewis County Horse Show sponsored by the Lewis County Civic Club. There were 88 entries. The 1960 Horse Show, sponsored by the Lewis County Civic Club, was scheduled for July 22 at Memorial Park. W. L.     July 07, 1960 Billy Grimes was named Lewis County Chair of the Civil War Centennial Commission by County Judge A. B. Nicholson. Mayor W. C. Keaton named Mrs. Reece Bell as City Chair for this Commission. Dr. Robert Bain, from Wilson County, was now associated with Dr. W. C. Keeton at Boyce Clinic Hospital.     June 30, 1960 The Hohenwald Rotary Club announced they would construct a new adult shuffleboard slab at Memorial Park. The 32nd annual reunion and picnic of all former residents of Hohenwald was held at Lowell Park in Dixon, Illinois. Fifty-one people attended the event.     June 09, 1960 Burglars broke into the Piggly Wiggly store. The store safe was moved into the alley by the thieves where they broke into it and took approximately $1,000. Entry to the grocery store was gained through the front door.     May 26, 1960 The Clean Up- Paint Up- Fix Up committee extended the campaign through the month of June. Much progress was reported with vacant lots being cleared, homes being remodeled, and painting throughout the city.     May 05, 1960 Park and recreation facilities at the Lewis County Fairgrounds (Memorial Park) were available for family use. The park now had two tennis courts, barbecue pits, shuffle board, playground equipment, croquet, badminton, and boxes to meet the needs of children of all ages.
