  • One Day At A Time

Well it is a beautiful morning here in our little valley. The cats have eaten, I’ve finished my coffee and I went for a little walk. As I looked around at the trees and all of the beauty, I thanked God for it all. We are blessed. There are storms coming in later today. I’m praying for safety. A few days ago we had a lot of wind and hard rain and our power went out around five o’clock. The sun came out after the storm and the evening was beautiful, but as it begin to get later we still didn’t have any power and the sun was going down. It was beg...

Well it is a beautiful morning here in our little valley. I went out to feed the cats and the sun was shining and felt so warm, I just had to go back and get my coffee and sit in my rocking chair and enjoy the warm sunshine. While I was sitting there, the cats fininished their breakfast and were giving themselves a bath, and two birds came down right at my feet and ate the cats’ leftovers. I looked across the yard and into the neighbors’ field and the cows were grazing peacefully. Then I looked up at one of the bluest skies ever and then I loo...

Well it is another beautiful morning here in our little valley. I went out on the porch to feed the cats but nobody came to meet me, I was a little surprised because they are always waiting for breakfast. I could see all three of them but they were just sitting very quietly and when I looked around, I saw why. There is a flower bed next to the porch and the flowers were all laying flat - somebody had been playing in the flower bed. They slowly came to eat, I never said a word to them and no pats on their heads. But the flowers will come back....

Well it is a beautiful spring morning here in our little valley, the sunshine is warm, and there is a gentle little breeze blowing and a beautiful blue sky. The cats have all ate their breakfast and are now running and playing. The birds seem very happy, they are all singing their little songs. I went out and sat in the rocking chairs on the front porch and I enjoyed the warm sunshine and my cup of coffee. God is good. A lot of people are putting their gardens out. Everyone is hoping for a better year. There is still a lot of talk about the...

Well it is a quiet and peaceful morning here in our little valley. The sun is shining down and feels so warm. The cats have had their breakfast and are laying in the warm sunshine. The birds are all singing and I even saw a butterfly. I think everyone and everything is ready for spring. Yesterday morning I swept my porches and got all my washing done and I even hung clothes out on the line. After we had lunch and got the dishes washed and put away, I quilted most of the afternoon. Life here is good. There is still trouble all around - when you...

Well it is a beautiful morning here in our little valley. It rained last night, now this morning the sun is shining, everything is clean, the trees are greening out and the dogwood trees are almost in bloom. The air is fresh and clean and smells so good. The cats have finished their breakfast and they are sitting in the warm sunshine. I’ve got my cup of coffee and, like the cats, I’m enjoying the sunshine also. Spring is in the air. Well lately we’ve had some bad weather, terrible thunder and lightning and very hard rain. We watched the creek...

Well it is a beautiful morning here in our little valley, a little cool but it is early spring and our days are getting warmer. I went out to feed the cats and I stopped and looked out across the yard, the pear trees are white as snow and under them are some beautiful yellow bushes and then there are the buttercups still in bloom. And then I looked up to see the prettiest blue sky and not a cloud anywhere. It was God painting a picture. The birds were singing and the doves were calling back and forth to each other. I stood there and felt the...

Well it is a cool morning, not bad cold like we’ve been having. I don’t have a fire in the old heating stove this morning. It sure is a peaceful morning here in our little valley. A little breeze is blowing - it is just enough to move the wind chimes. I have my cup of hot coffee, it sure is good. The cats have all eaten and are back on their beds. We set our clocks forward last night, it takes a little while for people to get used to the change. I wake up every morning at the same time, with or without an alarm clock, and so do the cats, The...

Well, it is a damp and rainy morning here in our little valley. The wind is really blowing hard and heavy rain and possible storms are on the way. I don’t have a fire in the old wood heating stove this morning, first time since November, it’s just a little too warm. But I do have my cup of hot coffee - that is good anytime. The cats have all eaten and are back on their bed for their cat nap. It is hard to believe that just a week ago, we had a big snow on the ground and 30 degrees. Now this morning it was 65 degrees. But we are in March and...

Well, it’s a cold wintry morning. I have my hot coffee and a good warm fire going. The house is so comfortable. The cats are snuggled back in their bed on the porch for a long winter cat nap. And I’m watching for the snow. I guess we all still have that little kid in us that wants a big snow. I love to see it snow. There are a lot of birds in the yard. I also see a couple of deer and even a few squirrels. They are all eating together peacefully, nobody is arguing, fussing or fighting. Just quiet and content eating together. Who said animals are...

It is a cold winter’s morning, and a few snow flurries are falling, but this warm fire and good hot coffee sure does make it feel real peaceful. Hard to believe we are in the second month of this new year of 2021. And what will this new year bring? Only God knows. Well, we will have to just take it one day at a time. We can’t do anything about tomorrow and we can’t go back and change yesterday. So I plan on enjoying today and trusting in God. Our neighbor’s boys just came and stacked firewood on the back porch. They are really not boys, b...

Well, there is a light rain falling, cool but not bad cold to be winter, but heavy rain is on the way. Got a warm fire in the old heating stove, a cup of good hot coffee, the cats have eaten and they are snuggled back in their beds for a nice cat nap. I am enjoying this peaceful morning. Later, I will put a pot of homemade soup on to cook and put a big skillet of cornbread in the oven. I saw the old John Deere tractor with a big bale of hay on it, yesterday. Our neighbor and the boys were loading the old farm truck and hauling hay to the barn...

  • What's the world coming to?

Well, it is a cold winter morning, light snow falling, beautiful. We’ve seen more snow than we have in a long time. Makes it seem even more peaceful with a good warm fire, a hot cup of coffee, the cats happily playing in the snow and chasing snowflakes. So peaceful and quiet here in our little valley. A few days ago, I heard our neighbor on his old John Deere tractor. He was mending his fences. There must have been some weak places, he was making it strong to protect his cattle from harm. Then, this morning I hear the news they are building fen...
