In trap, the athletes shoot at clay targets launched by a single machine, traveling away from them. Five athletes line up, and...
Little Mable Anne went through the McDonald's drive-thru with her mom, Ashley Heath, to get her occasional treat of a Happy Meal when her mom saw the toy was a Ty Beanie Baby. Heath soon began thinking about how many of the residents they visit every Monday morning also have stuffed animals that they keep in their room. Once she got the idea, Heath didn't hesitate to call the fast food restaurant's manager, Candi Barber, who immediately agreed to help by donating 100 beanie babies to the AHC...
World War I was unlike any other previous war. The Great War took an unprecedented toll of 40 million soldiers and civilians as the it ravaged the landscape of Europe. But out amongst the rubble, beautiful red flowers began to grow and take root, much like a forest being reborn after a fire. The flower soon became a symbol for those who lost their lives, following the publication of a poem called “In Flanders Fields.” Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae was a doctor in Canada when he volunteered for WWI. He served as a brigade surgeon for an All...

The county commission voted on a resolution during the March 15th meeting, hoping to put a policy in place that allowed a Dog Catcher to detain stray and “at-large” dogs, or dogs who have become a public nuisance. Contractor Greer Lashlee of Lashlee-Rich, Inc., presented four options for building and improving the county jail. “We received 90 bids on building the jail, but the total was more than the county could fund,” said Lashlee, “So we went back through the bids and started value engineering to reduce the cost.” Value engineering is the process of combing through the bids and making cost reductions by changing manufacturers, materials, and/or equipment, said Lashlee. The initial plan for the new jail, without any changes, was an estimated cost of...
