On the afternoon of June 8, 2020, Karen Ann McCormick unexpectedly passed away in her Hohenwald home. She was born on August 31, 1945 in Connecticut to the late Joseph and Polly Smith. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Black. Mrs. McCormick worked 35 years for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) as a computer specialist. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was necessary for Lewis County High School faculty to cancel this year’s Junior/Senior Prom. But that didn’t stop parents who had purchased attire and looked forward to their young men and women participating in this yearly event. Due to the Covid-19, the ninth annual Ticked Off At Cancer Ride was delayed, but the committee continued to raise money for the Lewis County Cancer Victims Fund. “There are so many in our town that suffer from cancer and need our help,” a coordinator stated.
