    January 14, 1954 Most of Lewis County had been in a deep freeze several days with the low temperature in Hohenwald being reported as 9° Fahrenheit, “the weather man forecasts that warmer weather brings snow or rain.” The Lewis County Quarterly Court passed a resolution allowing Gulf International Gas Company permission to lay a natural gas pipeline across the county.
