Light snow was sprinkled around on the rooftops and trampolines in the area on Monday, but, even though it was in the low thirties most of the day, the snow left quickly. Hope this does not mean six more weeks of cold snowy weather. My buttercups and tulips are up and some people even have some that have bloomed. Some days the temperatures have been in th...

Hard to believe we are in the second month of this new year of 2021. And what will this new year bring? Only God knows. Well, we will have to just take it one day at a time. We can’t do anything about tomorrow and we can’t go back and change yesterday. So I plan on enjoying today and trusting in God. Our neighbor’s boys just came and stacked firewood on the back porch. They are really not boys, b...

In Hohenwald, the local water supply was shut off as there was no power to operate the pump more and the supply in the tank was low. “As we go to press it continued to snow… The mercury was down to 10 earl...

There’s no middle ground with middle names. You either love them or hate them. Or, if you’re a politician, you treat them however the latest opinion poll indicates. (“It’s way past time this nation took the bold bipartisan move of giving Harry S. Truman an actual posthumous middle name – not for our own benefit, but FOR THE CHILDREN.”) Middle names come from various sources. My son and I both carry on my late father’s middle name of Lewis. My brother was named for the surgeon who delivered him...

Mr. Editor, I would like to enter an opinion (simply that of a concerned citizen of this wonderful community, state, and these great United States) in response to Ms. Kupfer’s letter published in an edition of the Herald a couple of weeks ago. Ms. Kupfer said she was disappointed that our representatives were among those who questioned the validity of elections in certain states- states that conveniently happen to have been the very ones either candidate would require to win the election. While it is true that both of our U.S. Senators from Ten...
