    The Lewis County Board of Commissioners met on Monday, May 16, 2022, at the courthouse to discuss approval of loans for the new high school, giving a one-time bonus to county employees who were left out of the previous bonuses and increasing the weekly allowance of pit material at the dump.     The Lewis County Schools Food Service Department will be serving free meals beginning on Monday, May 23, 2022 at the Elementary Cafeteria and continuing thru Thursday, June 30. Parents can drive thru and pick-up lunch and breakfast for students between 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.     In a unanimous decision by the Lewis County Board of Education, Dr. Tracy McAbee was officially declared Lewis County's preferred candidate for Director of Schools. The decision was announced in an unanimous roll call vote during last week's School Board meeting and the decision became official on Wednesday morning, May 18, 2022, when Dr. McAbee signed his contract with Lewis County Schools.     Mickey "Pete" Murphy, 49, was only out of jail for four weeks before he was arrested by Hohenwald Police Department K-9 Officer Robbie Hooks and Narcotics Officer Brandon Pace on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Murphy had failed to meet with his probation officer which led to the issuance of a state arrest warrant. This allowed HPD Officers to make contact with Murphy when they spotted him on a scooter.     Dennis Lee Seale entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge of second degree murder in the 2017 death of Brian Deavers. Seale was sentenced to 19 years on a court of second degree murder. Seale must serve 100% of that sentence. Seale was also sentenced to six years for aggravated burglary and an additional four years for vandalism, with each of those sentences running consecutive.
