Maybe it’s a good thing that my teenage dream of becoming a TV programmer never materialized. Analysts have regarded the over-the-air free TV networks as dinosaurs for years, but now even the cable channels and streaming services are watching over their shoulders for asteroids. Oh, the new Golden Age was nice while it lasted – with companies trumpeting ambitious 5-year plans for special-effects-heavy prestige projects, offering new life to niche programs dumped by the traditional networks and...
The Cub Scouts of Lewis County met last Tuesday to hone another of their myriad talents for belt loops and badges, target practice! They filled empty soda cans and bottles part-way with water and set them up to be targets for the frisbees they were learning to throw at them. The parents and leaders had just as much fun helping them learn the correct way to throw the frisbees and cheering them on and said they have a few very good arms in the Cub Scouts! Afterward, the group all went back to the...

Still the weather has been on the dry side and very hot during the day, the nights have still been in the sixties for the most part. Gardens are really beginning to show the product of hard work by those who spend endless hours working in them. We had showers and thunderstorms last night and along with the thunder and lightning it rained for part of the night.
