  • Animal Fun

    Jul 15, 2021

By Daris Howard This heatwave we are experiencing showed me that animals like to have fun, just like we do. Some things I saw were almost human-like. I was on my way home from work one day, and as I approached an overpass, I could feel the added heat coming from the four-lane highway below. Even inside my car, it felt like I was passing through an oven. That is when I saw the hawk. It looked like a young bird. It was floating with almost no flap of its wings. As it came across one of the double lanes of the highway, there must have been...

  • Letter to the Editor

Thank you for the article on the marketing of our area and the promotion of tourism by Nashville’s Big Back Yard and the South Central Tennessee Tourism Association. • One Day At A Time

    Evelyn 'E.T.' Trevathan|Jul 15, 2021

Well it is a hot and humid day here in our little valley. The sky is getting dark and I can hear thunder off in the distance. I am enjoying a cold glass of sweet tea, sitting here in the swing on my front porch. I was thinking back to when we were young. We were afraid of storms, but we had fun going to the cellar. We had shelves built and mama would store...
