    The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Hohenwald will be offering a new Forestry and Agriculture Program coming in the Fall of 2021. The Forestry and Agriculture Technology Program will be aligned to meet the needs of workforce development associated with the forestry and agriculture industry. The program will prepare a student with an understanding of Forestry and Agriculture.     The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released its 2020 ‘Crime in Tennessee’ publication detailing the volume and nature of crime, reported by the state’s law enforcement agencies. Among the report’s findings: A total of 506,558 Group A (typically the most serious) offenses were reported in 2020, decreasing 5.0% from 2019. 136,407 Group A arrests were made in 2020, of which 6.8% were juveniles. The crime rate per 100,000 for Group A offenses was 7,355.5. There was a total of 18,167 DUI arrests in 2020, a decrease of 7.1% from 2019. The state’s...

  • Natchez Trace Wilderness Preserve holds fourth Bass Tournament of the year

    Natchez Trace Wilderness Preserve held their fourth bass tournament of the year at Chief Creek Lake on Saturday, July 10, 2021. There were a total of 46 boats, 86 anglers and 84 fish caught totaling 81.88 pounds. Anglers in the top 30 from Lewis County were: Matt Carroll and Miles Staggs, second place, catching five fish weighing 6.10 pounds; and Ronnie Staggs and Kane Dillon, 19th place, catching two fish weighing 1.78 pounds.
