    On August 8th, members of the lodge visited with veterans at the American Legion Post #127 to deliver care packages for local veterans. Lodge members delivered 25 care packages containing health and welfare items for their comfort. Giving back to our Veterans is a primary focus of the National Elks Foundation and funding for this project was made possible through the Elks Freedom Grant.     The Lewis County High School Panthers stepped out of classification as they hosted the Creek Wood Red Hawks of Region 5 4A on Friday night, August 26. With the extreme heat, the game was pushed back from its normal kickoff time of 7:00 to 8:00, and the heat seemed to affect both teams.     The Lewis County Middle School Panthers traveled to Centerville on Thursday, August 24, to face the Hickman County Bulldogs. It was the host Bulldogs that took the early lead midway through the first quarter with an 8-yard touchdown run that put Hickman County up 6-0.
