  • One day at a time

    Evelyn 'E.T.' Trevathan|Sep 26, 2024

Well it is a very quiet and peaceful morning here in our little valley. I know there is a lot of trouble everywhere you look, but as I sit here on my front porch and watch the neighbor’s cows grazing peacefully and the humming birds enjoying their feeders and the cats enjoying the warm sunshine, I am so thankful and I know I am blessed. Autumn is the best time of the year. (Sorry, Summer.) It’s the season of colorful leaves and football games and apple orchards and haunted houses and cool, crisp sweater weather. It can also be the season of kindness—if we stop buying wool. Sheep are gentle individuals who, like all living beings, feel pain and fear. But in the wool industry, they’re treated like nothing more than textile-producing machines, genetically manipulated to grow an unnatural amount of wool. Since the shearing process is driven by profit rather than compassion, it’s...
