    Josette Riley|Nov 7, 2024

"Hey, Jo, I don't have any family, so when I die, who will bury me?" In general, people have the option/responsibility to pre-arrange and pay for their burial or cremation, so their wishes are followed. However, If you are totally alone in this world (which I hope you are not; please know everyone is family at Jo's house, and I will help you) I did some searching. • Letter to the Editor

    Nov 7, 2024

Last Saturday I went to Columbia to the farmers market and the local bookstore. I stopped by Lowe’s to pick up some things for the house and garden. When I went to check out I looked for a cashier. There were none. There were only lines for “self checkout” in the entire store. I was very surprised. Then I felt sorry for the cashiers who had lost their jobs. I felt irritated because I had unwieldy items that were hard to check out by myself. I felt angry because there was no way to use cash, which is Constitutional legal tender. I had the choic...

  • Gordonsburg News

    Dorothy Warf|Nov 7, 2024

We just finished the time change of the year which many do not like, because of the daylight hours, but then some like it this way. I would love to stay the way we just changed from but that doesn’t seem to matter to many who have the say of what we do. It has been so dry that the leaves are really falling, and the trees will soon be bare, the ones that lose their leaves. If you smoke and are used to tossing your cigarettes and other items that might have fire to them, please be careful for one tossed out along the road could start a fire that...

Well it is a cool Fall morning here in our little valley. The colors of the trees have been so pretty, this year we have had a beautiful Fall. They know when it is cool out that they get a little bowl of warm milk, so they were sitting at the door waiting. We have been enjoying this Fall weather, Bob and Bobby each have went walking almost everyday....
