The coalition of organizers of the faith based "Enough Is Enough" March on the afternoon of Sunday the 14th of November promised at least 1,000 people. We had some winter weather this past week with the temperatures dipping into the low twenties during the night and with the moon and stars being so bright it has brought frost that looks like a light layer of snow. One morning it was frozen on the trees, bushes and weeds so that when the sun shined on it there appeared a wondrous sight, for it looked like millions of diamonds shinning. It was a beautiful sight. Those I know of who are sick either at home, nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: G.Y. Bennett, Connie Bonner, Dorothy Brown,...

Well it feels like a cold early winters morning here in our little valley. I have gotten a good warm fire going in the old wood heating stove, I have started on my second cup of hot coffee. The cats had a really good breakfast this morning, they had chopped turkey from Thanksgiving with a little warm gravy on top and now they are back on their beds with full bellies and ready for a nice long cat nap. The leaves are all gone off the trees and we have gotten the leaf piles cleared away now, but the cats sure did enjoy those piles of leaves, they...

Representatives from Famous Feed Company were on hand distributing free drinks to customers and to oversee the drawing for 10 sacks of feed. Winne...

This may get me on Santa’s naughty list, but I honestly can’t remember whether I watched “The Homecoming: A Christmas Story” when CBS first aired it on December 19, 1971. Since my mother is an antique collector and regales everyone with tales of growing up during “hard times,” and since many of my ancestors came from Virginia, it’s certainly PLAUSIBLE that I got in on the ground floor of Earl Hamner Jr.’s heartwarming classic about the Great Depression. (Granted, being old enough to have...
