May 26, 1960 The Clean Up- Paint Up- Fix Up committee extended the campaign through the month of June. Much progress was reported with vacant lots being cleared, homes being remodeled, and painting throughout the city. The American Red Cross reported that they needed 172 pints of blood from residents in order to have enough blood for every sick and hospitalized person in the county. May 05, 1960 Park and recreation facilities at the Lewis County Fairgrounds (Memorial Park) were available for family use. The park now had two tennis courts, barbecue pits, shuffle board, playground equipment, croquet, badminton, and boxes to meet the needs of children of all ages. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Lewis County Elementary School was not able to hold the usual kindergarten registration which was scheduled for early April. Enrollment cards and student data and medical information forms may be picked up at the front entrance of the elementary school building.
