Taco jokes can be so corny that they get a bad wrap! But they were a hit on Take Your Child to the Lewis County Public Library Day on February 3, 2024. Attendees enjoyed "Dragons Love Tacos," "It's Raining Tacos," and they created their own taco cards. Every child took home a football or basketball, stickers, taco erasers, and a free taco voucher from sponsor Taco Bell! The library hosts regular story times every Tuesday at 10 a.m. For more information about this and other library programs,...
Collage, as an art form and technique, involves assembling individual pieces or materials into a new body of artwork with a predominantly two-dimensional character. An authentic collage artist uses photographs from books and magazines as found material, deconstructing and reconstructing them using paint as a visual method to create systematic artwork on paper. In the early twentieth century, collage as an artistic technique emerged primarily by Cubism’s greatest masters, Pablo Picasso & Georges Braque. Picasso’s “Still Life with Chair Canin...

While struggling to find a suitable angle for this Valentine’s Day essay, I lucked upon some “Reader’s Digest” clickbait. The article talked about psychologist Arthur Aron’s 1997 study, in which he brainstormed 36 questions (including “What would constitute a ‘perfect’ day for you?”) that can theoretically accelerate intimacy between two strangers (or rekindle romance in long-term relationships). Bravo. People typically do an awful job when left to improvise. First dates tend to be characterized...

Mining began in Allens Creek in 1891, and a small mining town grew as the miners brought their families to the area. The furnaces were closed in 1923 and dismantled in 1936, causing the town that had grown around the industry to die out....
Well it is a beautiful morning here in our little valley, the sun is shining and it is warm. They say there maybe a little rain later this week, but right now we are going to enjoy the warm weather while we can because we all know that Winter is not over yet. The weather this past week has been really warm for this time of year with temperatures reaching seventy a day or two and in the upper sixties three- or four-days with sunshine most days. A concerned citizen in the Peters Road area of Lewis Couny was worried about a neighbor's horses being malnurished when he saw 5 animals, including two colts, that appeared to not have available food.
