Summer appears to be upon us as the temperature reaches close to ninety degrees some days, we also had a thunderstorm on Saturday evening with fierce lightening and wind with rain. The rain was much needed, and we also got more rain on Sunday evening. I was glad that it did not rain during the homecoming at Palestine Cemetery. We had a good turnout and a good donation thanks to all who came and hopefully others that were not able to make it will send donations to the Regions Bank for the Palestine fund. Those I know of who are sick either at...

From the temperatures we have had it looks like summer is here, well maybe. It was in the upper eighties almost every day last week and it really made the children want to get in the creek or pools wherever they could. I would think that the creeks are still too cold but maybe not if you are in the shallower area where the sun hits the water. I guess ol’man winter is not finished with us yet, it was 45 on Friday and then on Saturday morning it was 55 still cool for spring but the blackberries are really blooming so guess this is blackberry winter. Maybe it will soon be warm and then we can complain that it is too hot, ha; isn’t that the way we do. Hope the allergies are not too bad in your area but the pollen has been really high causing breathing problems for many. It seems that spring is here, but I believe there will be one more if not two cool spells before we really can relax and feel like spring. It is still cool at night sometimes, but the days have been warm most of the days. Many have gardens already producing the early products like lettuce, radishes, and other like plants and even some up that will produce later. The trees all around are getting really green and of course the grass is growing and needs mowing more and more every week. Those I know of who are sick either at home, nursing...

The weather has been really nice with daytime temperatures in the eighties and nights in the sixties and upper fifties. I am hopeful that spring is really here, many of the flowers are blooming that we see in the early spring and some are having things like radishes and early greens from their gardens. Those I know of that are sick or shut-in are Martha Hensley fell and hurt her back and is in Emcompass Rehab Center in Franklin; Crews Henderson is suffering from injuries during an accident; Rocco Pierce, Terry Anderson, Vickie Skelton, Bethann...

Don’t know if this is one of the winters or not but it was 47 degrees this morning and at noon it is still about 48 degrees. Wish it would just be spring and not have all this cold rainy weather. The trees and flowers are really blooming so maybe won’t be long till it is warmer at night. Then I guess we will complain about the heat when it is hot all day and night. Those I know of who are sick either at home, nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Terry Anderson, Bethann Bates, Kay Baxter, Carson Bennett, Connie Bonner, L.C. Bowen, Kat...

I believe we are seeing the first of what many call the winters of spring, the one we just had must be redbud winter for they are really pretty along the roads and in the woods. I guess the next one will be dogwood and they are beginning to bloom now, I have seen a few that are almost open. The temperature has been mild during the day and cold or cool in the night as a couple of mornings it was in the low thirties on the creek. This past weekend was cool on Saturday early but later was nice and the children could even be outside.Sunday was a...

Another week of temperatures like winter, especially at night with the lows being in the low thirties. The days have been somewhat fair and with temperatures in the upper sixties and low seventies. The cool temperatures have not prevented the grass from growing and so there has been a lot of mowing around the area and almost everywhere you go you can smell fresh cut grass, some with onions mixed in with it. Those I know of who are sick either at home, nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Terry Anderson, Kay Baxter, Connie Bonner, L.C....

The temperatures for the last week have been spring-like for the nights have been in the thirties or slightly lower and the days in the sixties or low seventies. I will be glad when it gets warmer day and night. Several people I know have already put out some garden items and I hope they haven’t wasted the effort for it has been around freezing a few night. Maybe it will not have hurt the plants and of course things like potatoes will not be hurt until they begin to come up. Those I know of who are sick either at home, nursing facilities or in...

Although the weather has been good for the most part, there have been some nights in the low thirties. Many of the days have been in the upper sixties and even in the seventies a few days. We had a wonderful weekend after the rains the later part of last week. The birds are really singing and busy building nests and I love to hear the doves coo when I am outside. I feed them on the ground because they won’t get on the feeders, don’t know why. Those I know of who are sick either at home, nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Terry And...

We have had a great week as far as weather goes it has been in the seventies and low eighties in the daytime and only in the upper thirties and forties at night but looks like ol’man winter will have another shot at us this week as it is supposed to be in the twenties some nights. Most people have really enjoyed this warmer weather, and some have even been gardening or at least getting the ground ready for planting. The trees and flowers are blooming, and the buttercups have been really pretty this year. Those I know of who are sick either a...

They talk about the weather in Tennessee, but we have really had some odd weather the last couple of weeks. We had rain with it 33 degrees and then ice freezing on the trees while it was still raining pretty hard at times, but no ice on ground or on roads. Then there was also thunder and lightning with it at times. We are promised a good week if the weather people know what they are talking about and I really hope so with the children beginning ball practice and especially when it is after dark for some of the teams. Those I know of who are...

We had another little skiff of snow one morning this past week but didn’t last long and wasn’t on the roads so that was a good thing. We have still been having temperatures in the low twenties and upper teens a lot of mornings and then sometimes not above fifty during the day. There have been some birds around that have been gone all winter and I think they may have gotten mixed up for it is not warm enough for them to be back in the area yet. I guess they will be able to find enough to eat until it warms up and also, I have seen several sma...

It is beginning to look like the groundhog was right for we have been having some very cold weather and I guess we will be looking at having a late spring. We have had a few days with temperatures in the sixties and low seventies, but not very many, and the nights even those days have been in the teens or low twenties. The buttercups continue to brave the weather and I have several blooming and along the roadway I have seen many others blooming. Beginning a new month and the weather has been really cold land lots of rain and even some black ice last Friday morning but it soon cleared up and was just a very cold day. The children were out of school for the day and I know they enjoyed that. The nights for the most part have been in the teens and some days not above thirty, but the weekend was better with temperatures in the lower fifties; that is not really warm but lots better than in the thirties. If you are out in the early morning it looks pretty because the frost freezes on the...

We have reached the last day of the first month of a new year and hopefully the rest of the year will see a less people sick with diseases that have plagued us during this first month. As for the weather it has been really cold, but this is winter, and I suppose that is to be expected. We had snow again on Friday, but it was short lived and disappeared quickly which suited me just find. It was mostly pellet snow and then some large flakes but as I said it didn’t last long land did not even cover the ground but some counties around us did have s...

Although it has been very cold with temperatures close to the single digits at night and sometimes not out of the twenties during the day, there is no more snow as of today. It seems we are having some unusual weather for our area the last couple of months. It gets warm like spring or summer and then cold like winter but always keeps you guessing as to what to wear. It’s deciding whether you need a coat or jacket or an umbrella and if you are going anywhere for all day you may even need more clothes to add to what you have on. Those I know o...

Well, we have had our third snow and it was a really good one. There was between eight and nine inches in lots of places and the trees were all bent over and some broke causing the power to be off most of the day on Sunday. So, no internet or tv or any other ways to do church if you could not get out to go and most places were closed, cancelling services both morning and evening. Not a lot of traffic on the road but there were a few who challenged it and some who had to feed cattle that got out. The farmers and those with cattle do not get a da...

We have had two snows and the first was so pretty it looked like a picture postcard with snow stuck to everything around. The second one followed fast on the footsteps of the first with only one day between and it had snow first and then ice and sleet on top making it very dangerous to be out on, even to try and walk. The children enjoyed getting out and sliding around on it and even some of the older children enjoyed it too. As for me, I had no desire to get out on it and was glad when some of my grandsons came by to do some of the outside...

Talk about weird weather, we have had it with several days last week being in the upper sixties and even up to the mid seventies. We’ve had rain many days but then Sunday brought a change to all as it started out in the forties and then light rain and towards the time for afternoon church it brought ice and snow with Monday morning looking like a winter wonderland. It sure is pretty but hope everyone can get where they need to be safely and that the roads soon clear; it fell really fast and didn’t take long to freeze because by 5:00 p.m., it...

For those who read this article, I missed last week and do apologize but my daughter Selina had surgery and so we have not been in the regular routine. She is still in Maury Regional but hopes to be home today. Know that you have seen the weather for the last couple of weeks go from summer temperatures to freeze of winter temperatures, this always hurts more than when it gets cold and stays cold. We had lots of rain and stormy weather but at least we escaped the terrible tornadoes that plagued many areas and states around us. We pray for all...

Well, ol’ man winter is playing games with us. We had a couple of days with temperatures in the seventies and the nights were not cold but just cool. I guess when it finally gets cold for the duration, we will all feel like we are going to freeze. We had some rain, loud thunder and lightening on Monday morning, but by school time the rain had slacked some. The temperatures dropped some in the early morning but was pretty nice during the day. We had some winter weather this past week with the temperatures dipping into the low twenties during the night and with the moon and stars being so bright it has brought frost that looks like a light layer of snow. One morning it was frozen on the trees, bushes and weeds so that when the sun shined on it there appeared a wondrous sight, for it looked like millions of diamonds shinning. It was a beautiful sight. The weather has been common for this time of year with little or no rain. We have had temperatures in the low thirties and even in the forties at night so it has been varied weather. We know that as we near the Thanksgiving holiday time of the year that it could be colder and even with some frozen precipitation. We will take what we get and be glad we are alive and can handle the things that come our way. Those I know of who are sick either at home, nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: G.Y. This week we have had some killing frost. The children said it looked like snow and it certainly did early in the morning before the sun was up high enough to dry it off. I guess it is time, for we are less than two months from the end of this year. I for one am not ready for the cold weather but that doesn’t matter, it is on the way. We had temperatures in the upper twenties and low thirties this past week. Those I know of who are sick either at home, nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: G.Y. Bennett, Connie Bonner, L.C.
