We have had some unusual weather for the first week in January 2024, it has been anywhere from the teens to the forties at night and fifties to thirties in the day time and with some rain heavy at times during the night and days. I guess we have missed some snow for they had chances a couple of days and nights and some said they saw some falling but most did not see it. I for one am glad it did not lay and hopefully we will not have much this winter. Those I know of who are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Kas...

A new year begins with the nighttime temperatures in the low thirties, cloudy and windy. We are blessed to be able to arise from our beds and go about our lives each day for there are many who cannot. May you be blessed as we begin this year and always be thoughtful of those around us who may have problems in their lives. Another week with winter nights and fall days with temperatures at night in the low twenties and teens and days up in the fifties some days. There have been some showers this past week with rain in the night and even in the days sometimes, there was lots of rain on Saturday and again on Sunday afternoon and evening on into the morning and during the day Christmas Day but the temperature was in the upper fifties and sixties during day but there was some sunshine in the afternoon. e terrible weather with thunder, lightning, hail and lots of heavy rain, it rained so hard you could barely see the lines on the road and so much water that one had to be careful that it did not cover the windshield and completely destroy the view of the road. We made it home safely and are very thankful for that. There was some tornado damage in some parts of the state and even several deaths as a result. With Thanksgiving over and done with I guess we are getting into those winter temperatures as it was in the low twenties a few nights this week. We did have some light rain on Sunday. I for one am not ready for the winter, the wind Sunday seemed to blow right through one. I guess we will take what we get the weather is one thing we can do nothing about. The weather has been more like winter again this past week and the temperatures at night have been in the thirties some nights. Everywhere you look there is leaves and more leaves and the trees are not yet completely bare. We have had some rain which is really welcome because we are below the level we usually get for the fall. Those I know of who are sick either at home, in nursing facilities or in the hospitals are: Kasey Baker, Margie Barber, Joyce Barnes, Colene Beasley, Lynn Brown, Linda Butler, Gertie Carroll, Spencer Clark, Robert and...

The weather keeps its reputation in check as the temperature from morning to evening has been somewhat changeable over the past few days, but we have had some rain, which was needed. It was so dry that burn bans had been issued for the area. If you are going to be out for long periods of time, I suggest layering clothing and then if it gets warmer you can remove some. A very beautiful weekend in the area with mild temperatures and beautiful sunshine. Saturday, we attended the Lomax Ladies Day with Brandy Love, she is a hometown girl who grew up in the area and is the daughter of Caroline Duncan and David Duncan and sister to Brooke. She had a wonderful lesson and was so good for this day and time in our lives as it dealt with the attitude of our hearts. The ladies at Lomax outdid themselves as they had a wonderful continental style breakfast and then lunch with a mini bundt cake for each one to take home in...

Monday started off with rain which is good because we have not had much lately. The temperatures are also lower than usual, but it is the time of year when we will be having cool to cold night and moderate day temperatures. The rain brought more leaves to the ground, and they will be stuck until they dry some. The weekend was not what most wanted the weather to be as it turned out to be a rainy cold day and night. Even Sunday was not very warm although once during the day, I saw the sun shine but was still very cool even to feeling cold to me. Most of the October Fest events were completed before it got so cool and even before the rain on Sunday. We have been having some much welcome fall weather and it is now fall or autumn whichever you like. The night and early morning temperatures have been in the fifties and low sixties, which is a welcome from the high temperatures we experienced a few weeks ago. The leaves are really falling which means more mowing to cut them up or raking the yards. My patio has large trees next to it so there are leaves on it every day. The weather has been somewhat like fall and the lower temperatures at night and morning are welcome to me. We have had some rain that is always appreciated for it cleans the air and washing the vegetation that God has prepared for us to enjoy- the trees, wildflowers and shrubs that dot the hillsides. We have had some rain during the last week, but rain is always welcome. The nights and mornings have been cooler, which I think most people enjoy immensely. rm on Saturday we were blessed with a good rain which we really needed, it was getting so dry and with the hot weather it affected many who have breathing problems. Rain is something that helps in many ways of course it waters the earth, but it also cleans the air and plants of dust that had settled while it was so dry. The weather continues to be hot and somewhat dry with temperatures in the upper eighties and into the nineties sometimes. There have been heat warnings given by the weather stations so if you must be out a lot be safe and be sure to stay hydrated. This weather is a little hard on those of us who have breathing problems, most of you know I have had the asthma since about seven years of age and the past week or so it has been giving me some problems, I know it is from being out when the yards are being mowed and the air is so full of pollen; but...

We are still having temperatures in the mid to upper nineties and even the nights have been in the eighties. Still having very hot days and even the nights have been warmer than usual. There have been thunderstorms in the area but as far as I know there has been no damage. The rain was welcome as we have been really dry this summer. It is a wonder that gardens have been as productive as they have been but there are a lot of gardeners who have been reaping the benefits of their labors and many are sharing with those around them. By Dorothy Warf Contributing Writer Still days with temperatures in the eighties and occasionally in the low nineties and we have had several thundershowers pop up in the area with thunder and lightning and even some reported hail during on of them.
