Occupational and speech therapy now available at Lewis Health Center

Lewis Health Center (LHC) Physical Therapy has expanded its services to include occupational therapy and speech therapy for adults and children. Physical, speech and occupational therapy services are offered at the therapy center on West Main Street in Hohenwald.

According to LHC Physical Therapy Manager Heather Norris, LHC recently welcomed Nicole Duncan, OT, an occupational therapist, and Amy Banks, SLP, a speech-language pathologist. They join LHC's team of physical therapists and physical therapy assistants who provide therapy services to patients.

"With the addition of Amy and Nicole to our team, our center now offers a comprehensive range of therapy services for children and adults. We are very excited to provide occupational and speech therapy services to residents of our community," said Norris.

Occupational therapy assists patients of all ages in rehabilitation and routine activities at work and home. This type of therapy can include upper extremity therapy, fine motor skills, handwriting, the use of adaptive equipment and activities of daily living. Speech therapy benefits both adult and pediatric patients, including children with developmental delays and adults recovering from an injury, stroke or other condition that has affected their ability to communicate.

Therapy services at LHC are offered by physician referral and through direct access for those who qualify. Free screenings are available for those who believe therapy may benefit their health condition. Free developmental screenings are also available to determine if children are meeting age-appropriate milestones with speech and movement.
