Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Della Lee Joyce "JoJo" (Horner) Crump, of Hohenwald, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the AHC Nursing and Rehab at the age of 76.
Born on December 21, 1943 in Hohenwald, she was the daughter of the late James Leemore Cotham and Nancy Lee James.
The family states they could tell stories for days on end. While the family spoke a few things stood out, the first was she was a Christian and she led her life by example. It was told that the preacher once came to her and asked her to pray for him. During her later years, she attended a small Assembly of God of about 20 people, close enough she could walk to church. While worshiping there, she began to sing, and because of her beautiful voice the congregation refused to let her leave. She attended here for two years until her health began to decline.
The family says she wrote around 14 songs, with one being titled "Daddy I'm Giving You This Song". They still have all the lyrics to this music today. Numerous searches were conducted by the family, but no recordings exist.
Another attribute was her positive attitude. She truly loved everyone and everyone loved her and enjoyed being around her. It can truly be said without a doubt she had no enemies. Her grandchildren would often say "Granny wouldn't do that" or "Granny wouldn't say that". But there is one thing she would say, and she said every time she left, "I Love You and God Bless."
Funeral service was conducted on Friday, February 14 at 11 a.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home Chapel with David Grimes officiating. Burial followed in the Downey Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, James "Jimmy" (Jennifer) Horner of Murfreesboro; daughter, Regina (Richard) Pike of Cedar Hill; two sisters, Sharon (Danny) Dodridge of Linden and Angela (Mutt) Leigh of Hohenwald; and five grandchildren, Chandler Horner, Sydney Horner, Bryson Pike, Addison Pike and Jazzlyn Horner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Crump; son, Doris "Waynie" Horner Jr.; sister, Sue Ann Sisco; and a grandson, Landon Horner.
