Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, physician practices are finding that patients are cancelling appointments and the results could be detrimental to their health, according to Chris Turner, M.D., chief medical officer for Maury Regional Medical Group (MRMG).
“Many of our patients have conditions that need proper management, including high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease and other conditions,” said Dr. Turner. “If you’re concerned about visiting your physician office, give them a call. They will be able to outline the safety measures in place at the practice to protect you from COVID-19. If you’re still concerned about a personal visit, they may be able to provide alternatives, such as a video visit depending upon your care needs.”
In Hohenwald, MRMG providers offer services at Lewis Health Center.
According to Dr. Turner, MRMG practices have consistent measures in place to protect patients, including:
• Rigorous cleaning protocols
• Screening patients immediately upon arrival
• Masking all patients
• Separating well patients from those experiencing any signs of illness in waiting areas and exam rooms
• Quick registration to exam room times
• Social distancing practices
Patients are encouraged to come to the office alone, when possible. If a support person is with the patient, they will also be asked screening questions and required to wear a mask.
In addition, MRMG began offering video and phone visit options in March at its 20 practices throughout southern Middle Tennessee. Those interested in video visits simply need a smart phone, tablet or PC with a camera to schedule a one-on-one visit with a provider. In addition to serving existing patients, MRMG is also conducting these visits by video for new patients when possible.
