James Deavers

James Owen Deavers, of Hohenwald, passed away on Wednesday, May 6 at his residence at the age of 80.

He was born in Hohenwald on April 28, 1940 to the late Finis Deavers and Edna (Brown) Deavers.

He was a delivery driver before eventually becoming a school bus driver and working for the Lewis County School System for many years. He oversaw the Deavers Family Cemetery and took care of it for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Baggett) Deavers; sons, Mike Deavers, Timothy Deavers and Brian Deavers; daughter, Verlon Whitehead; step-daughter, Sandra Menge; brother, Eddie Deavers; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

A graveside service was scheduled for Saturday, May 9 at 2 p.m. in the Deavers Cemetery.

McDonald Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
