Barbara Church

Barbara Fenstemaker Church, age 91 of Hohenwald, passed away peacefully Wednesday, May 13, 2020 surrounded by her family.

She was born March 4, 1929 in Berwick, Pennsylvania to the late Claude and Hilda (Parker) Fenstemaker.

She attended Highland Baptist Church in Hohenwald. She and her late husband, Mel, owned and operated Mel and Barbs Party store. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and crocheting, often creating many beautiful pieces. She really enjoyed a game of bingo with friends and family or adding to her extensive sunglass collection. On beautiful days, she could be seen out in the garden planting and pruning her flowers. The one thing that brought her true joy was seeing all her grandchildren. She would often say "it's too quiet in here" after they left for the day. She looked forward to the many family gatherings throughout the year when all her family would be together. The love she had for her family and friends was unmeasurable.

Ms. Church leaves behind daughters, Ruthann (James) Shoemaker, Donna Church and Debra Donahue; siblings, Judy (Carl) Whitmire, Jack (Yvonne) Fenstemaker, and Dorothy (Whimp) Keifer; grandchildren, Kim (Sam) Livingston, Kelly (Earl) Taylor, Kristine Kromis, Kandi (Chris) Brown, Ryan Donahue, Katie (Eric) Barger, Dennis (Trish) Church Jr., Amy (Matt) McKay, Mandy Church and Jamie Church; 26 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Church; two sons, Duane Church and Dennis Church; grandchildren, Teri Lea Kromis and Todd Church; and brothers, Robert Fenstemaker, Bill Fenstemaker, David Fenstemaker, and Glenn Fenstemaker.

Funeral services was held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2020 at Highland Baptist Church with Sam Livingston officiating. Burial followed in Lewis County Memorial Gardens.
