Dewey Casey Hinson Jr., age 88, passed away peacefully on the evening of May 16, 2020 surround by family in his Hohenwald home.
He was born August 18, 1931 in Dyersburg to the late Dewey C. and Eula (Loines) Hinson Sr. Mr. Hinson was a member of Hohenwald First United Methodist Church.
On April 11, 1963, he married his one true love, Myra Reeves Hinson and throughout their 57 year marriage they welcomed five children into the world.
Mr. Hinson lived an extraordinary life full of many accomplishments. He worked as a farmer for 32 years in Dyersburg, working in produce of soy beans and cotton while also working at the Dana Factory in Hohenwald. He volunteered with the Civil Defense for over 25 years and was an elected constable for Hohenwald for 12 consecutive years. He also volunteered with the Hohenwald Fire Department for 28 years and would often serve as mechanic for the repairs of the trucks.
His passion for baseball was undeniable. He was a coach for the 11-12 year old baseball team and would often step in as an umpire for other games. With such an active life, he enjoyed working on puzzles or watching the world Little League series on television with his family in his downtime.
Mr. Hinson is survived by his wife, Myra Hinson; children, Dalton Lynn Hinson, Teresia Gayle Barber, Mary Ellan (Kenneth) Hart, Victoria Baxter, and James Hinson; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and eight great- great grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Mr. Hinson was preceded in death by his brothers, Alva Leon Hinson and Curtis Ronald Hinson; and grandchildren, Duncan Killian Hinson and Donna Maegan Hinson.
A graveside service was conducted on Monday May 18, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Deavers Cemetery with Brother Tom Gibson officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to All Things Common Outreach.
Adair Funeral and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements.
