Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898

Pilot Pick Me Ups

Ashley Heath and Mable Anne, center, visit with Eva Dudley, assisted by Jessica Whitehead, CNA, Tuesday morning at AHC Lewis County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and a game of Patty Cake ensues.

The Heath’s are joined each week by Barbara Hinson, second from right, with a bubble blowing gun, and Annette Peery, right, displaying a sign that reads, “Have a beautiful morning and a good day!” They visit with residents through the windows, waving, blowing kisses and bubbles, watching for smiles.

“My Granny passed away in a nursing home in Mount Pleasant two weeks before Mable Anne was born,” Ashley explained, when asked why she spends hours each week greeting residents of the nursing home.

“I wasn’t able to visit her. This doesn’t make up for it, but it makes me feel better,” she continued. “Ashley and Mable Anne have brought a lot of joy to this place,” Annette said, all smiles.

Barbara and Annette volunteer as members of the Pilot Club of Hohenwald.
