Miss Henderson, Mr. McDonald exchange June wedding vows

The wedding of Rodger McDonald II, son of Nancy and the late Rodger McDonald of Hohenwald, and Hanna Henderson, daughter of Jim and Sheila Henderson of Lexington took place in a beautiful outside fairytale ceremony on June 20, 2020 at a private residence, "Idyll By The River," in Franklin. Greg Smith, minister of Hohenwald Church of Christ performed the ceremony.

The groom, attired in a navy blue suite, escorted his mother down the isle and seated her beside a chair where his father's black jacket and military cap was placed.

The bride was dressed in a beautiful white wedding dress designed with lace overlay. The long veil flowed behind her as she was escorted to the altar by her father.

The wedding party of five bridesmaids, one bridesman, one maid of honor, nine groomsmen, three men of honor, one flower girl (Anniston) and one ring bearer (Maverick) were dressed in colors of taupe, grey and navy.

During the ceremony, the minister informed the wedding guests of the symbolic meaning of why the couple chose to be married in that spot called "meeting of the waters"- Native Americans view nature through their belief systems. A river or water does not only sustain life – it is sacred. In geography, a confluence occurs where two or more flowing bodies of water join together to form a single channel. Confluence means a flowing together; when things come together like rivers do, flowing from entirely different places, it instantly becomes one - like the coming together of two families to create and start a new family.

The ceremony was followed with a reception full of love, laughter, friends, families, music, and memories.

Hanna is the granddaughter of Charlie Green and Peggy LeCroy of Lexington. She is employed in the pharmaceutical business.

Mr. McDonald is head football coach for the Hickman County High School Bulldog football program.
