Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Florence (Amelia) Hughes passed away June 23, 2020 at the age of 95.
While never having children, she was the beloved aunt and friend to many. Over the years, Vina Gail Bumgarner became her dear "daughter" while Corey, Gail's husband, now deceased, was a good friend to her. Florence also always called Gene Dierlam her "son." They all loved her very much.
Florence was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 17, 1924, the daughter of the late Thomas and Ida May Peters. She came from a large family and family was always important to her. She could tell you about all her brothers and sisters who had preceded her in death: Al (George), Walter, Robert, Harvey (Elwood), Edwin, Ellen (Eliza), Anna May, and Ida May. She also kept track of every niece and nephew.
She worked 15 years for the Ohio Turnpike then retired to Florida. After Jack, her husband of 35 years, died she moved to Hohenwald where she lived until her passing.
She never met a stranger and her positive attitude and wonderful laugh will be missed by both family and friends.
Florence's wishes were to return to her family in Ohio and be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Jack, in Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Brunswick, Ohio.
