Hohenwald Utilities recently won the Region 7 Best Tasting Water Contest sponsored by the Tennessee Association of Utility Districts (TAUD). The competition took place at David Crockett State Park on Wednesday, July 8, 2020.
In addition to Hohenwald Utilities, the competing utilities included Lawrenceburg Utility Systems, Linden Utilities, Loretto Utilities, and St. Joseph Waterworks. TAUD Region Seven consists of: Decatur, Hardin, Lawrence, Lewis, Perry, and Wayne counties.
Participating as judges for the competition were Dustin Dowdy of Southeastern Tank, Beth Keaton of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, Brad Wilkinson of MISCO Industrial and Mike Wetherington of American Development Corporation. The drinking water samples were judged on clarity, bouquet and taste.
This summer, TAUD will conduct the Best Tasting Water in Tennessee Contest in each of its eleven regions. Each regional winner will compete at the Association's 2020 Business Conference at the Gatlinburg Convention Center on Thursday, August 13. The statewide winner will then represent TAUD at the Great American Taste Test held in conjunction with the National Rural Water Association Rally in Washington D.C. in February 2021.
