Series: Gordonsburg | Story 15

It has been a really hot week, more like August than July, but really hot anyway. I hope if you are out much that you stay hydrated because many have suffered from not having enough water to drink and getting sick. Water is very important to our body and nothing keeps it going like water. No other drink helps as much and sugar drinks really just make you thirstier. It is predicted that we will have another week of this hot weather with temperatures reaching into the nineties and heat index over one hundred.

Those who are sick or shut-in and in need of prayers for whatever the need: C.R. Baker, William Barber, David and Joyce Barnes, G.Y. Bennett, Connie Bonner, Barbara Brown, Burrell Brown, Dorothy Brown, Amy Carroll, Dorothy Carroll, Joann Carroll, Kathleen Carroll, Spencer Clark, Fada Clay, Terrell Crews, Marian Dryden, Monica Dupont, Rusty Dupont, Polly Edwards, Geneva Grover, Helen Hardin, Myrtle Harvey, Melody Hensley, Beverly Holloway, Tom Hornal, Mickey James, Monet King, Edith Lawson, Linda Mercer, Wendy McKnight, Rita Norris, Angie Odom, Lonnie Odom, Donna Owen, Coleen Rasbury, J. T. Runions, Mike Runions, Mona Runions, Tommy Shaw, Nell Skelton, Dustin Stutts, Nancy Taylor, Tommy Taylor, Annette Williams, Doug Williams, and Margie Willis. Please remember these in your daily prayers along with others you know that are sick or shut-in.

Happy birthday to Nicholas Runions, Pam Graham, Derrick Johnston, Jimmy Lee Johnston, and Greg Baker the 24th, Bobby Carroll and Shondra Carroll the 25th, Brad Holt and Addy Odom the 26th, Fran Mears the 27th, Gerald McCann the 28th, Rhonda Turner and Karen Holt the 29th, Audrey Reeves the 30th, and Abbey McDonald the 31st; wishing for these many more happy days to celebrate life and hope they have a great birthday.

Happy anniversary to Adam and Deanne Barnes on July 31st. We wish for them many more years to celebrate life together. Don’t know the date but happy late anniversary to Danny and Glenda Atkinson who recently celebrated an anniversary with family and friends. Congratulations to all those who had anniversaries lately.

We express sympathy to the families of Cleveland Tennyson Charles, Ronald Lee Burleson, Frances Marie Henley, and Danny Ray Green: prayers for these families and any other families that have lost loved ones that we may not know about.

Many small businesses have not been able to withstand all the effects of the virus. If you have the opportunity, remember the small local businesses and help them by buying locally. This helps to keep our community stronger and also helps the economy.

The creeks around the area seem to be a very popular place with the temperatures soaring into the nineties many days the last week. I know this is very refreshing and fun for many but remember it doesn’t take long for the sun to burn the skin. Be careful when you are in or around the water and use sunblock and make sure it is one that stays on even in water and that it is reapplied every now and then while there. The water makes the sun cause even more damage to our skin.

Praying that you have a great week and that you are blessed with health and happiness and remember those who cannot get out and send cards or call and if it is feasible visit them. This is one thing that really encourages those who are sick and shut-in.
