Voters to decide on Sales Tax for Schools issue
Lewis County residents who have not voted in the early election or absentee will head to the polls today, Thursday, August 6, 2020 to cast their vote in the State and Federal Primary and County General election.
Polls will be open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
A report Tuesday morning showed 1,632 Lewis County voters taking advantage of early and absentee voting.
For comparison, in the 2018 election, which had the largest majority of county offices and a state primary, 2,139 voted early.
Polling places in Lewis County are: District 1 at Swan Creek Baptist Church, District 2 at General Assembly Academy, District 3 at Flatrock Church of Christ, District 4 at New Hope Baptist Church, District 5 at Oak Grove Community Room, District 6 and 8 at Lewis County Memorial Park Community Building, District 7 at Tennessee National Guard Armory and District 9 at City Hall.
Photo identification is required. No voting will take place at the Lewis County Election Commission Office.
Lewis Countians are encouraged to do their part on Election Day. All poll officials will be wearing face coverings and are trained in social distancing protocols.
“We do not require voters to wear face masks, but we do recommend, for the safety of others, you do,” Administrator of Elections Rusty Isbell stated.Voters should expect to see signs with further safety instructions at their polling locations.
