Left, County Mayor Jonah Keltner, Jack Cothran, Jerry Sharp, Dwayne Runions, Harry Crist, Bob Keel, Veterans Service Officer Ritchie Brewer, James Morris, and City Mayor Danny McKnight, gathered at Lewis County Courthouse Monday in recognition of Purple Heart Day, Friday, August 7th.
"For those who fought for it, freedom has a meaning that the protected will never know," quoted Purple Heart Veteran, Jack Cothran, after thanking those who came out to the courthouse, officially recognizing August 7th as Purple Heart Day in Lewis County.
Purple Heart Veterans Dwayne Runions, Bob Keel, James Morris, Harry Crist, Jerry Sharp, and Cothran all came together for this special day as Mayors Jonah Keltner and Danny McKnight signed the proclamation.
"I appreciate you all coming out here... My heart goes out to the men and women fighting for this country today," said Cothran.
