Former county employee faces charges of theft, official misconduct

A former employee of Lewis County government was indicted by a Lewis County Grand Jury on charges of theft over $10,000 but under $60,000.

Boyd Blair Scott, who served as an executive assistant in the Lewis County Mayor’s office, has been charged with a Class C Felony when he obtained health insurance benefits without paying the proper premium “allowing for additional money in personal paycheck from Lewis County Government,” the indictment read.

A second count of official misconduct stemmed from the unauthorized exercise of official power as he was the overseer of the health plan.

Three counts of Theft under $1,000 were handed down by the Grand Jury related to incidents at Walmart in August, September and October 2019.

Mr. Scott resigned his county position voluntarily following shoplifting charges on October 22, 2019.

He is scheduled to appear in Lewis County Circuit Court September 1, 2020.
