South Central Area Fair kicks off Sunday

South Central Area Fair is scheduled to kick off Sunday, August 30, 2020 with the Fairest of the Fair Beauty Pageant for ages 0-21 competing for trophies, crowns, a sash and cash money. The pageant begins at 1 p.m. at the Lewis County Middle School Auditorium.

The fair, once again, is pay one price, $12, and ride all rides.

The University of Tennessee 4-H Dog Show, Hot Dog Eating Contest and Fair Exhibits scheduled for Monday, August 31 have been canceled this year.

A new addition to this year’s entertainment is Becky’s Flamingo Bingo, in memory of long time fair board member, Becky Carroll, on Tuesday, September 1. It is free to play with chances of winning over $2,500 in cash and prizes.

Wednesday night is Family Night with admission and all rides at $8.00 per person. Organizers say every kid will leave with cash in the Kid’s Money Drop.

Thursday and Friday night, September 3 and 4, will feature the Junk Car Jump ‘N Run. Drivers will compete for trophies and cash prizes in the nail-biting entertainment side-by-side obstacle course race.

The fair concludes with the annual Demolition Derby, Saturday, September 5, with not one, not two, but three derbies.

“Enjoy the longest running derby in the southeast area where competitors destroy each other to win over $11,000 in prizes,” a member of the South Central Area Fair Board stated.
