City officially appoints new members to Board of Zoning Appeals and approves beer permit

The City Council officially replaced former Board of Zoning Appeals members Larry McCutcheon, Jerry Risner, June Defoe and Barbara Hinson during a City Council Meeting that occurred on September 1 at City Hall.

“We’ve discussed this before and everybody was in favor of it, but we hadn’t made it official yet by y’all and that’s what we’re here to do tonight,” said City Mayor Danny McKnight.

According to a previous report, the former members were not made aware of the forthcoming changes, but their terms had expired.

Vice Mayor Don Barber made the motion to approve the resolution and City Councilman Kevin King seconded the motion. The resolution was unanimously approved.

The new members of the BZA are Clasha Tanner, Stephanie Runions, Scottie Bass, Kevin Baker and Dale Floyd.

The City Council also approved Travis McKissack’s application for a beer permit for on and off premises consumption for the Elks Lodge. Councilman Scottie Bass motioned to approve and Councilman King seconded the motion. The permit was unanimously approved.

Consent Agenda included an approval of minutes from August 4, 2020, a Police Report from Chief Kip Kelsey, a Fire Department Report from Chief Steve Vineyard, Building/Codes Inspector Report from Brad Rasbury, and a report from Economic & Community Development Coordinator Helen Ozier. All were unanimously approved.

No announcements were made and no citizen input was given.
