Jerry W. James, of Hohenwald, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020, at the age of 81.
Jerry was born on June 30, 1939, to Jesse Sr. and Della (Lancaster) James on Slippery Creek. He married his wife, Shirley, in 1969 and they raised their family together.
He was a truck driver and a minister at Piney Baptist Church for a number of years, and was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church at the time of his passing.
He leaves behind his children, Pam (William) Carroll of Hohenwald, Tommy (Loree) James of Columbia, Sharlene (Nathan) Hensley of Hohenwald, and Charissa (Royde) Weaks of Murfreesboro; grandchildren, Keith Carroll, Nick Carroll, Chris James, Sara James, Zach Hensley, Royeanne Weaks, Hannah Weaks, Brooke Weaks, and Olivia Weaks; and one great grandchild, Jesse Hensley.
Along with his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Carter, Jessie Jr., Dewey, Bill, Paul, Jimmy, Larry, and Bob James; and sisters Verna Garrison, Nell Schultz, Nancy Cotham, and Lillian Carroll.
Funeral service was held on Sunday, September 27, at 2 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home chapel with Bert Spann and Roger Banks officiating.
