LCHS Seniors go out with a win

The Lewis County High School Lady Panther volleyball team hosted the Hampshire Lady Hawks on Monday, September 28, 2020 for their final home match of the season and senior recognition.

In the varsity match, the Lady Panthers and Lady Hawks matched point-for-point throughout much of the first set before the Lady Panthers opened up a late lead to take the set 25-20. Momentum was on the side of the home team as the Lady Panthers used point-runs to pull away to a 25-16 win in the second set.

The Lady Hawks found footing and held with Lewis County for the third and final set until the Lady Panthers were able to finish off the visitors and take the set 25-21 and sweep the varsity match.

Cabry Hill amassed 28 hits in the 3 sets and 3 kills, Nylah Halbrooks 14 hits, 2 kills, and an ace, Emma Hinson 9 hits and 4 aces, Keira Halbrooks 7 hits and a kill, Brooklyn Carroll 3 aces and 2 hits, and Kaitlyn Hinson 1 ace.

The junior varsity matchup between the Lady Panther JV and the Lady Hawk JV was a competitive match. The Lady Panthers were pushed hard in each of the two sets of JV play, as they took the first set 25-19.

Things tightened up after a brief break, as the Lady Hawks and Lady Panthers broke service multiple times and limited point streaks for each other. It was the Lady Panther JV that was able to take the lead late and not let up, taking the second set 25-21 and the match 2-0.

Serenity Warman had 6 hits in JV play, Isabel Greve 6 aces, Keira Halbrooks 5 hits and 5 aces, Madasyn Durham 4 hits, Mya Sevier 2 hits, Aly Stutts 2 aces and a hit, and Reese Duncan 1 hit.

Seniors were recognized prior to the match. 2020 Volleyball Lady Panther seniors are: Brooklyn Carroll, Nylah Halbrooks, Emma Hinson, Kaitlyn Hinson, and Reagan Webb.
