Serving Hohenwald, Lewis County Tennessee Since 1898
Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative members will see a few changes on their October statement. The overall impact is a 2.9 percent ($3.95) decrease for residential members using 1200 kilowatt-hours.
Changes include a slight increase to the Tennessee Valley Authority fuel cost adjustment and a switch from the higher summer rate (June-September) to the lower fall (October and November) price. Additionally, Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative plans a revenue-neutral price realignment for residential, GSA-1 and GSA-2 rate classifications in how it covers fixed costs such as maintaining substations, equipment, materials, right of way, etc. This will involve increasing the basic service fee or demand charge for these classes but reducing the co-op’s portion of the energy charge.
“All changes will be passed through to our members at the retail level and are revenue neutral to the cooperative,” says Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative President and CEO Keith Carnahan. “When one line item goes up and another comes down, it can get confusing, but we strive to be transparent with our members.”
